The RP12 is one of DigiTech's most comprehensive
and powerful RP Series floor-controlled guitar preamp/processors.
Even with the RP20 on the market now, the RP12 offers tons of
outstanding effects and excellent sound quality.
The RP12's flexible front-end offers an analog preamp section, including a compressor and three individual distortions. Its four-band, fully-parametric EQ and ten Cabinet Emulator selections provide a broad range of tones typically achieved only from a stand alone preamp. With digital effects driven by the second generation of DigiTech's award-winning S-DISC(R) 24-bit VLSI processor, the RP12 provides a palette of sounds wide enough to please guitarists of every style.
Featuring 128 factory presets and 128 user-definable program locations, the RP12 can produce up to nine full-bandwidth effects at once from a list including: Compressor, Heavy Sustain, Overdrive and Grunge(TM) Distortions, Slap-Back-Stereo Ping-Pong, 2 Tap Delay, 4 Tap Delay, Delay Modulation, Multi-Effect Reverb, Bigverb, Gated and Reverse Reverb, Chorus (Mono, Dual, 4-Voice, 6-Voice), Flange, Stereo Ducker, Noise Gate, Silencer-, Stereo Imaging, Digital Mixing, Auto Panner, Tremolo, Pitch Shifter, Phaser, Whammy(TM), Wah and AutoWah.
The RP12 also incorporates three new effects, Intelligent Pitch Shifting, Smooth Pitch Shift and Smooth Whammy, putting its total effect list in excess of 30.
Offering full MIDI implementation, the RP12 features a fully programmable Expression Pedal for real-time control over up to ten effect parameters (i.e.--volume, pan, wah, etc.). An improved onboard chromatic tuner additionally eliminates the need for an extra tuning device. A 16x2 Super Twist LCD display showing program names and parameters allows easy viewing from all angles while an LED display and indicators provide clear information in low-light situations. A headphone jack on the rear panel also enables guitarists to "jam away" without disturbing the neighbors.

Aaaand back to the present day...
The RP-12 is now discontinued. The suggested U.S. list price was $599.95. I got mine new for $450 at a Sam Ash sale, in the late 90s.
Here's a lot of my RP-12 programs. These are System Exclusive
(SysEx) MIDI dumps, and they are extremely fast downloads.
However, they can still be used without a MIDI interface (RP-Edit
can convert them to text).
When I was in a band, I was playing through a Rocktron Velocity 250 Stereo Power Amp, so
the patches may need a little tweaking if you're running through anything else.
In case anyone has a need for it, you can download my RP-12 definition file for Cakewalk. It contains all the factory programs, so you don't have to type them in yourself. I made it with Cakewalk 5.0, but it should be compatible with other versions as well.
